In order to accommodate the diverse leisure and recreational needs of the public, the Port of Osaka maintains a range of outdoor recreational facilities, including a yacht harbor and a bird sanctuary. At the same time, it also holds the Osaka Port Minato Matsuri (Port Festival) around July 15th, which is the day when the opening of the Port of Osaka is commemorated.

Nanko Bird Sanctuary

Nanko Bird Sanctuary The Osaka Nanko Bird Sanctuary in Sakishima, built as a stopover for migratory birds, is a natural habitat of international significance. By utilizing the viewing points and observatory education center, both birdwatchers and nature-lovers alike, are sure to enjoy a day out at the Osaka Nanko Bird Sanctuary. In 2003, it was added to the East Asian-Australian Shorebird Site Network, an international cooperative effort supported by both governments and non-government organizations.

Hokko Marina

Hokko Marina Reflecting the increased popularity of marine sports, the Hokko Marina was established with the aim of promoting marine activities. Equipped with several rental yachts, the harbor is perfect for all who wish to try their hand at sailing.
