3 Osaka Citizen’s Fund for International Students
The following projects are implemented by the (Public Interest Incorporated Foundation) Osaka International Exchange Center with the help of donations from citizens, companies and organizations.
a) Scholarship program for privately-funded foreign students
There is a scholarship program under which providers can specify the scholarship name, the recipient’s country/region of origin, university, and field of study.
4 Other support programs for foreign students
a) Foreign student information website and foreign student exchange supporters
Osaka City, the Osaka International House Foundation, and other related organizations provide useful information for exchange students and opportunities to interact and work together with local residents, including volunteering opportunities.
It also offers cultural experiences and facility tours in Osaka to encourage interaction between exchange students and Japanese students.
b) Collaboration with foreign exchange students
In addition to accepting foreign exchange students as interns, the project provides opportunities for international students, who have limited chances to interact with Japanese students, to connect with them through teaching English and Korean conversation to high school students of a similar generation.
c) Expanding collaboration with international students
Opportunities are provided for international students to participate in programs where, as globally minded individuals actively engaged in the community, they can plan and implement events aimed at promoting Osaka’s internationalization and appeal from their own perspectives and also serve as volunteers. Projects such as exchange meetings that foster mutual understanding between international students and local residents are implemented to build community ties and encourage international talent to settle and thrive in Osaka.
d) Invitations to cultural programs
Both privately-funded and government-sponsored foreign students are invited to cultural programs in Japan (especially in Osaka), including programs organized by the Osaka International House Foundation.
