3 Osaka Citizen’s Fund for International Students

The following projects are implemented by the (Public Interest Incorporated Foundation) Osaka International Exchange Center with the help of donations from citizens, companies and organizations.

a) Scholarship program for privately-funded foreign students

Scholarships that give a face of the sponsors are offered by specifying scholarship name/type, national or regional origin of the scholar, university, or major field of study.

4 Other support programs for foreign students

a) Foreign student information website and foreign student exchange supporters

Osaka City, the Osaka International House Foundation, and other related organizations provide useful information for exchange students and opportunities to interact and work together with the residents including volunteering information, etc.
It also offers cultural experiences and facility tours in Osaka to encourage interaction between Exchange and Japanese students.

b) Collaboration with foreign exchange students

In addition to accepting foreign exchange students as interns, the project provides opportunities for international students, who have limited chances to interact with Japanese students, to connect with them through teaching English and Korean conversation to high school students of a similar generation.

c) Expanding collaboration with international students and supporting entrepreneurship

As international human resources active in the local community, international students will have the opportunity to experience planning and running events aimed at internationalizing Osaka and enhancing its appeal from their own perspective, as well as to participate in volunteer programs that can lead to career advancement. International students will also be supported in starting their own businesses in order to create new, locally based businesses and help establish international human resources.

d) Invitations to cultural programs

Both privately-funded and government-sponsored foreign students are invited to cultural programs in Japan (especially in Osaka), including programs organized by the Osaka International House Foundation.
